Gendarme Kiss
Part of the Modern Heroes collection, this painting portrays two gendarmes (a woman and a man) sharing a kiss. I wanted to reveal the humanity behind the uniform: two people in love, tenderly connected. What the painting does not show are the sacrifices, the endurance, and the quiet strength required to protect our lives and our freedoms.
Through this simple, intimate gesture, the painting tries to challenge the stereotypes often attached to those in uniform. Gendarmes are sometimes seen as distant, unemotional, even inhuman. Yet this kiss reminds us that they are no different from us; they are capable of love, vulnerability, and hope. Too often, these men and women are forgotten, misunderstood, or unfairly judged. In truth, they are modern heroes: humble individuals who risk everything for the safety of others, while still seeking, like all of us, a life filled with love and happiness.
