My Personal Journey

Throughout my life, I have always combined three activities which, in my eyes, are inseparable: a demanding job in market finance and strategy consulting, playing tennis at a high level during certain periods of my life, and an artistic activity mainly focused on painting.

The first stage of my life was focused on sports: tennis, but not exclusively. I have always been drawn to sports and the balance that physical activity and self-improvement bring to the soul and the well-being of the mind. Sports also allowed me to broaden my horizons and see beyond the small town where I lived in the south of France.

I was ranked 11th in France in table tennis, number 2 in France in tennis in the cadet category, and a player on the southwest football team. Tennis eventually became my priority at the age of 13 when I joined the sports-study program in Bordeaux. My career was short because I quickly realized that my skills and talent were not sufficient to make it a profession.

However, sports continue to represent a major part of my life; I practice sports every day of the year. Art also appeared very early in my youth. I was fascinated by abstract art, which Kandinsky and others had so well brought to the forefront of the artistic scene. I painted out of desire, for distraction, and especially to project myself into a world different from my everyday life.

The second stage of my life began at the age of 24 in Madrid, in a trading room. A fascinating start, at a time when market finance was starting to become a strategic activity for banks; a period filled with abuses and dramas. Despite the attraction of this hectic life, I grew weary of it.

Human contact and the need for creativity were much stronger than the lure of short-term gain. I became a consultant in finance. I started by advising investment banks in the field of financial engineering, then in IT at IBM.

But it was at the Boston Consulting Group that I was really able to integrate all facets of my personality: creativity, strategy, and the pursuit of beauty and excellence. This experience was truly unique, and my eight years spent, surrounded by unique personalities, focused on solving very diverse and often complex problems for major investment banks, helped me form a strong opinion about the corporate world – its shortcomings, and its contributions to humanity.

I also became fascinated by the quest for simplicity: simplicity of the solution, simplicity of communication, and simplicity of organizational models. Incessant travels took their toll on the most enriching period of my professional career.

Today, I am still a consultant in a company known as the "Big Four." I am still based in London, although I spend a large part of my time in the Middle East – a region undergoing significant cultural and economic transformation. As our world is increasingly dominated by technology, it is not surprising that artificial intelligence and the blockchain world are my favorite subjects.

Helping to better understand how to use them to one's advantage has become my specialty over time. During this period, I have always continued to create art, but travels and a very demanding professional and family life have inevitably limited the time I could dedicate to it.

Access to digital art changed everything. No need for a dedicated space to paint. Armed with an iPad, ProCreate software, and a digital stylus, I quickly (re)became the nomadic artist I have always been.

Since then, I paint two to three hours a day – mostly at the break of night… a way to make up for lost time, no doubt, but not only… my overflowing creativity could and must express itself fully, without limits and without constraints.
